Can’t Fall Asleep

What Can Happen to a Person Who Can’t Fall Asleep?

People who can’t fall asleep also experience that their eyes don’t work quite as well. The first changes are often minor: blurred vision when reading as well as inaccuracy in judging depth or distance. Though a lot of people experience hallucinations after a long period of going without sleep, it usually takes a person seventy two hours of no sleep at all in order to bring these hallucinations on. However, people who undergo shorter periods of sleep loss experience common visual errors which are easily corrected, which only goes to show that a person’s vision is easily impaired when a person is having trouble sleeping.

Other Symptoms You May Experience if You Can’t Fall Asleep

Difficulty in accomplishing fine motor skills is also quite common in people who can’t fall asleep. People who lack sleep also experience memory impairment especially about more recent events. This is because the complicated process of memory retention, does not work quite well when you are sleep deprived. And this is the reason why a lot of people find it hard to absorb new information when they lack enough sleep.

And when people who work long hours, especially people who are often overworked, they lose hours that are supposed to be spent for sleeping. And research studies have proven that people who sleep for less than five hours every day are more likely to suffer from cardiac diseases by forty five percent compared to people who get eight to ten hours of sleep every single night. Studies have also shown that those people who are getting eight to ten hours of sleep every single night enjoy more health benefits which is the exact opposite of what people who can’t fall asleep experience. People who get more than eight hours of sleep are more likely to be more optimistic, satisfied with life and can easily handle stressful situations, which is not the case with people who have less time sleeping.

Just Stop Worrying That You Can’t Fall Asleep

What people don’t understand is that the harder they try to fall asleep by will, the more awake they will feel and they will also feel anxious. Don’t think of sleep as something that you have to do, rather let sleep come to you naturally. Stop thinking that you have to sleep and that you can’t fall asleep at all, this would only make you feel more agitated and sleep will not come; instead relax, just close your eyes and think that sleep will come and it will come to you easily.
